Intrusion Prevention
An Intrusion Prevention System is a network security device that monitors network and/or system activities for malicious
or unwanted behavior and can react, in real-time, to block or prevent those activities. Network-based IPS, for example,
will operate in-line to monitor all network traffic for malicious code or attacks . When an attack is detected, it can drop
the offending packets while still allowing all other traffic to pass.
Wireless Access
A wireless LAN (WLAN) is a wireless local area network that links two or more computers or devices using spread-spectrum
or OFDM modulation technology based to enable communication between devices in a limited area. This gives users the mobility
to move around within a broad coverage area and still be connected to the network.
Network Management
Network management refers to the activities, methods, procedures, and tools that pertain to the operation, administration,
maintenance, and provisioning of networked systems. A common way of characterizing network management functions is FCAPS
- Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance and Security.
